Malahide United FC Upgrades to FIFA Quality Pitch, Selected as UEFA Euro 2028 Training Ground
Malahide United FC in Ireland is home to a FIFA Quality–certified artificial turf pitch at Gannon Park, which has been selected as an official training ground for the UEFA Euro 2028. The facility reflects a high standard of performance and quality required for elite-level football environments.
About the Project
The project involved resurfacing the club’s existing pitch with a modern artificial grass system, delivered by PST Sport, CCGrass’s exclusive distributor for sports turf in the UK and Ireland.
The upgraded field includes a full-size 11v11 pitch, along with two 9v9 layouts marked in yellow, providing flexibility for different age groups and training formats. This multi-use configuration enhances pitch utilization while supporting both structured training and competitive matches across all levels of play.
The system is designed and tested in accordance with the latest FIFA Test Manual 2024, which introduces more stringent requirements for shock absorption, durability, and player–surface interaction, ensuring improved consistency and long-term performance.

Gannon Park has been selected as an official training ground for the UEFA Euro 2028, one of Europe’s most prestigious international football tournaments.
Co-hosted by the UK and Ireland, the competition will bring together the continent’s top national teams. Training site selection is subject to strict evaluation criteria, including pitch performance, player safety, and overall facility quality.
